Mr. Ramesh Thummar discusses his views on the growth & Scope of Plastic Industry and its International market. He also gave the Opinion on Role of Gujarat in Plastic Industry.

Which is the main factor that indicates growth of Plastics Industry in the coming years?

On the factors that indicate the country’s impending growth in the Plastic Industry is our per capita consumption of plastics which is the lowest in the world. At present per capita plastics consumption is only around 8 kg in India which is going to be doubled soon. The scope of reaching augmented level remains certain due to the inevitable nature of plastics and its incorporation in everyday life.

Which are the main issues in Plastic Industry at present?

The main issues at present influencing Plastic Industry like services-tax, higher cost of finance, trained manpower, changing polymer prices frequently, negative image of the Plastic Industry, all these should be properly addressed. Plastic Industry is growing rapidly and is expected to touch 20 billion dollars by the end of 2020.

What is the scope in Plastic Industry?

Plastics are the material of choice for the 21st century and likely to domain for the next few decades. Increasingly plastics are replacing conventional materials even for advanced applications and this is the major growth driver. India has emerged as a preferred centre for establishing manufacturing facilities for plastic goods. The government is also encouraging the setting up of the plastic park in various States to help the growth of plastic industry which is so important for the economy as well as employment generation.

Your view for establishment of Technology Upgradation Fund (TUF)

Technology Up-gradation is necessary of the hour for making Indian Plastics Industry competitive in this volatile market. Since the cost of development of new technology is very high, assistance is sought for establishment of a separate Technology Up-gradation Fund for plastic industry. The said fund should encourage up-gradation of manufacturing facilities, technology, etc. related to Plastic Industry.

How Gujarat Plastic Industry will get benefit from India Plast?

Gujarat is immerging as an Automobile hub. Considering this many global entrepreneurs are considering the possibility to start their production units in Gujarat itself. This direct opportunity for plastic industry in Gujarat from point of Employment as well as industry growth of the state.

At the first launching of India Plast 2015, Shri Saurabhabhi Patel (Hon’ble Minister of Energy and Petrochemicals , Govt. of Gujarat) had given the welcome speech and highlighted scenarios of the Plastic Industry and its crucial role in growth of the industry at National and International platform.

Gujarat is the only state which has become self-governing in Power with success of 33% industrial growth contributing 17% to GDP and in future it will be enhanced to upto 22%, he said.

Shri S.B.Dangayach, who welcomed the delegates and described the forth right vision of Government and need of putting polymer industry on priority for new policy like textile policy of Government of Gujarat,. He said that occasion is not only mega, but shell fulfills the requirement of new exhibition center in western part of India. This exhibition will give challenge for inclusive growth in all aspect of polymer usage in area of textiles, building, construction other infrastructure, automotive and packaging industry.

Shri D.J.Pandian also expressed his thought about the most desired need of growth of Polymer Industry.

Shri Nikhil Meswani said that Gujarat is the Janmabhumi, their inception & growth has been in and Gujarat primarily. He added the Reliance Industries Limited is planning additional capacity of 3.5 million tons in next 5 years.

Shri Mahendra Patel is narrated thanks to the govt officials individually; appreciate their contribution in each region. He had highlight the recycling issues of plastics, with an ethically tactic that plastics is part of mother earth and it will be accepted no matter what mankind play with it.

Finally, the moral of speeches is highlighted prospects of the Indian plastic industry and the crucial role of INDIA PLAST 2015 and also helpful to attract International Plastics manufacturers, suppliers, investors, customers and consultants.
